Solarigraphy
(solargraphy)

This method is based on a self-developing process in the photographic paper emulsion when it is extremely overexposed. Usually, the portable camera Obscura with a pinhole as a "lens" is installed for several days, weeks, months, or even years to get the picture. During the long exposure, the Sun rays and objects that are not moving relative to the camera are fixed on photo paper. The camera gets the Sun paths in the sky when it is mounted to the fixed object. When it is installed on the moving object, this object is shot clearly, and other objects are blurred.

2018 Commuter
Mission, BC
exposure Mar 23 2018 - Apr 14 2018 (22 days)

3-week-long exposure of commuting to work.
Despite the daily car jorneys, the sun tracks have accumulated into a typical picture as if the camera was attached to a building or a tree. The outlines of the tree and the position of the steering wheel when parked also have incredible repeatability in time. From the point of view of a tin can with photographic paper inside, it's an eternal Groundhog Day.
2019 A giant Douglas Fir
Norrish Creek, BC

exposure Jan 26 2019 - Apr 19 2019 (83 days)

A giant Douglas Fir, which was left to seed the clear-cut area. Such huge trees are not of value for lumberers as the entire core part of these trees is rotten and strewn with mycelial threads. Often, old trunks brake in the middle in case of strong wind. When falling, the multiton treetop creates a small clearing. Besides that, their bark exudes a lot of resin which permeates the entire underbrush around it. This increases the probability of wildfire during thunderstorms. That way these trees take care of their offspring, clearing up the territory for seeds to grow on.
